What does IV&V mean and what does IV&V do?

IV&V LLC can support many different companies. Below is one example how IV&V LLC can help the Navy and BigShipsCo.
When the Navy needs something special, like parts for a new ship, it asks a company like BigShipsCo. to help. The Navy gives BigShipsCo. a list of specifications describing what the parts need to do and the design rules they need to follow. Before making a lot of them, BigShipsCo. checks to make sure their design will work correctly first. They don’t want to make hundreds of parts that might not work!

First, after the Engineers at BigShipsCo. finish the design, they look at their new plans and drawings to see if they have all the right parts and sizes and if they followed all of the Navy's rules. This is called validating the design. After that, they build a few parts and test them to see if they work. This is called verifying the design.
Now, sometimes, it can be tricky for a company to check its own work because they want to save money and time. A designer might skip important tests just to save money, which could make the final product not as good. To avoid this problem, they can hire another company - a company that is independent from them, like IV&V LLC, to check their work for them. This is called Independent Verification and Validation or IV&V for short.
IV&V LLC helps make sure the final product is really good! Here’s how we help both the Navy and BigShipsCo.:
1) Lower Costs: My company is small, so it costs less for us to do the testing than if BigShipsCo. did it themselves. This helps them save money and win more contracts.

5) Building Trust: If the end customer knows we’re doing the checks, they’ll trust the product more. It shows the end customer, like the Navy, that BigShipsCo. cares about doing the best possible job.
6) Avoiding Mistakes: By making sure everything is tested properly, we help prevent mistakes. If a company skips tests, they could end up making a lot of parts wrong, which costs a lot of money and takes longer to finish the project.
